Head of Academy Rugby
Since May 2019 I have been in the position of Head of Academy Rugby for Peterborough. Overseeing up to 50+ players and 9 members of coaching staff. My role is to map out the overall training plan, structure and development route for all of our players. Starting from U16s and moving up to U17/18s. Having regular meetings with the coaching staff to discuss current progression of players, team selection, linking in with rugby colleges and DPP sections to share player development tips. As Head of Academy Rugby my two main purposes are to build a structure which will enable our players to have the best possible rugby experience and to set them up to progress into our senior sections at the club. I also work alongside our first team head coach to ensure that we are all running a similar structure to enable a smooth transition from academy to Senior XV.
Coaching Development Coordinator
As part of my role as coaching development coordinator I am task by the club chairman and director of rugby to plan out suitable coaching development session liaising with club coaches and RFU staff. I am also responsible for booking CPD courses to be held at the club and to support all coaches on their rugby journey. Working with a very experienced director of rugby I have also ran some development sessions with our junior age groups assisting coaches with the understanding of Game Zone/Skill Zone, Coaching Through CARDS and also looking at key areas that they feel they need support with and to work on. Some of these being delivery of their coaching and some more technical areas.
